Ireland is lending some support to Microsoft, as it stands against a U.S. search warrant.

The U.S. government wants Microsoft to surrender one customer’s emails related to a drug investigation. The emails are stored on servers in Ireland, however, so the software giant has refused. It argues that the United States does not have jurisdiction

Now, Ireland has sounded off in court, asking the U.S. to respect its sovereignty, and not go over the Irish government’s head to seize the emails.

“Ireland has a genuine and legitimate interest in potential infringements by other states of its sovereign rights with respect to its jurisdiction over its territory,” according to a court …
